October 1 2005 NC edits.jpg

What am I doing wrong?

The adbove picture is edited in Nikon capture as Jpeg
while the picture below is the raw file that is edited
in Photoelements 4.. The yellow and organge glow
is true to the actual picture, but the PE seems to have
a red cast??




Of course, I have not read the manual for PE 4.. but I am taking
it with me for light reading while stuck on planes and trains..

My favorite in your gallery.

Just one advice......."always" shoot in RAW mode. It would save you a lot of headaches and makes thing a lot easier once you learn the basics of color correction in PS.

When you open the original raw file in Photoshop elements, You have to make white balance selecttion "AS SHOT" from Auto. Usually Auto sometimes can give you pink or red casts. Try selecting different white balance settings before saving your picture. This should fix your problem. Hope this helps

Does the camera carry out some processing on the jpeg whereas the RAW file will need working on. I read somewhere that processing is 50% of a digital image, and eleswhere that many cameras do so much processing on the jpg that little post-processing is needed.

Maybe check the cameras settings for colour, contrast etc etc

I really just wanted to say how much I like this (NC) version - very atmospheric - Voted!
